The museum of fun

We went to the Children's Museum a little while ago. I am finally getting around to posting some photos. Isaac had a lot of fun and so did we. I was thrilled to be at a place that had a little kitchen with high chairs so we could feed him without major drama.

The fun began with golf balls and the tracks that they slide in. Isaac mostly loved the golf balls. He took a few out of the room with him (shh, don't tell).

In the baby room, Isaac loved this. He has a small version of one of these that his grandma got him that he likes. This one was over the top fun.

He was crazy about the lady bug scooter. There were other kids who wanted to play with it, but he would have nothing to do with that.

Climbing has become one of his favorite activities (too bad we don't have any stairs). This contraption kept him entertained for quite a while.

I think that we thought that this was cooler than Isaac did. It was like a waterbed underneath the padding. He was ok with it, but was mostly intent on just climbing out.

I think that he mostly liked watching the older kid here.

Isaac LOVES our fridge. When I open it, he stops whatever he is doing and crawls right over to take a look. The fridge at the museum looked really cool, except for the Plexiglas that kept him from pulling everything out, which is what he likes to do at home (I think that is a big mess just waiting to happen).

In other news I am really suffering from baby brain. I am convinced that this is a real phenomenon. I have shown up for several meetings at work, only to find out that they were either not until the following week or that I had shown up for the wrong meeting. It would be nice to not feel like such a flake. I am fortunate to work with many other women who have had kids and are very sympathetic. Phew!

The Unicorn

So, Isaac is sick and that means we are really tired. Hopefully he gets well soon. The amazing thing is that when he is awake he is really hyper and playful. I wish I was that way when I am sick. Hopefully he does not outgrow it. However, I think that he has not yet learned that if he acts more pouty and pitiful he gets a lot more attention.

So, after very little sleep last night (I am good at being pouty) I had physical therapy for my lower back this morning. This is an injury that began with pregnancy and matured with my running post-pregnancy and lack of stretching-I prefer running to stretching when time is tight. After the elbow massage the PT gave my lower back, I have decided that the point of physical therapy is to create new pain that masks the previous pain. At the end, I will think that maybe my pain is not that bad compared the the elbow massage.

There was a funny part to the physical therapy session. That was when my PT referred to spare time as a parent as "the unicorn". I like the analogy. I am going to keep looking for the unicorn. Perhaps the fact that I am blogging right now means that I found it (more likely is that I am so tired I can't remember all the other things that I am supposed to be doing).

Finally a photo of the star of the show here. Naked time was a lot of fun the day that Isaac got to help with the laundry (i.e. empty the basket on to the floor). All the other really cute photos from this were just a touch too scandalous for a blog forum.

Birthday Boy!

Isaac had his big first birthday this week. We celebrated yesterday and he had fun eating some cupcake and opening presents.

He liked the candle and required a lot of supervision during this phase. I think that he is not quite ready to learn about fire.

He was not sure what to think about the cake at first, but enjoyed it and topped it off with some milk.

He enjoyed his gifts. We made him a board with a bunch of latches on it. He also was pleased to get some of his favorite snacks (freeze-dried fruits, mmmm...).

Hand Wave

Isaac has gotten into hand waving again and seems to be pretty intrigued by what his hand can do.

New trick

Isaac busted out a new trick this weekend: taking some steps. It is very exciting for all of us. He is kind of like a seaworld dolphin that is trained with food as incentive (he gets puffs, not raw fish). We could not resist including the little spill in this-it is true to the whole picture of this learning to walk business. It did leave a mark.
