New arrival + Easter

So, we have been absent from the blog for a while. Time to do some catch up.

Our little William decided to make an early arrival like his older brother (both were 10 days early). I had a doctor's appointment in the morning and about five meetings at work after that. That day at work was intended to be my big wrap up day, so I was not thinking much about the doctor's appointment. I was really willing the baby to come later. I had bronchitis and was still recovering from that as well as the rib damage I seemed to have gotten from all the coughing so going in to labor was not high on my priority list. At the doctor's, we realized that my water had broken and that basically meant that I needed to have the baby within the day. That was a bit of a surprise. So, I went home and tried to tie up some stuff for work and pack up things for Isaac and myself while Aleks finished up things at work. Once we were ready, we picked up Isaac from daycare and dropped him with family and then headed to the hospital. William decided to wait until 1:10am to arrive, making it easy for us to remember his and Isaac's birthdays (both are on the same day of the month).

So far he is doing good newborn stuff: eating, sleeping and pooping. We think he is adorable and are enjoying getting acquainted with him. Isaac is doing great so far and seems intrigued by him. He likes to hold him and point out his ears, eyes, head, etc.

One funny thing that Isaac has done is that he is possessive of his changing pad. He never has allowed us to change him on it and does not like to lie down for diaper changes. So, we busted out the changing pad for William and suddenly Isaac decided that he was not going to share that. So, Isaac got down on it and demanded to have his diaper changed. Needless to say it has been much easier to change Isaac since William came along. All we have to do is mention that we are changing William's diaper and Isaac comes toddling on over and demands to have his diaper changed.

We had a nice Easter weekend. There was an easter egg hunt at the church Saturday morning and Isaac had a lot of fun with that. He totally gorged himself on sugar and loved every minute of it.

Sunday we refilled the plastic eggs with healthier snacks and had another hunt around our backyard.

My mom has been in town the last week helping out, which has been great. I am still trying to figure out how to entertain and take care of Isaac while breastfeeding all of the time. Should be an adventure when my mom leaves! I suspect that there will be tears involved (Isaac's, William's and mine).

Haircut

(before the haircut)

We finally decided that the time had come to trim Isaac's lovely locks. We had hoped to do this last weekend for his second birthday, but illnesses got in the way. So, this morning, we pulled out the clippers, the DVD player, pancakes and syrup, and went to work. Isaac was not amused, though he did like being able to watch DVDs and eat pancakes with syrup. We quickly gave up on the clippers and resorted to discretely cutting away at his hair while he was distracted. Thankfully he has really curly hair, so it is not entirely obvious that it is not totally even all over his head. We have spent the day talking about the haircut and associating it with treats and movies. Hopefully that sticks and he will not be so resistant next time.

(after the haircut)

This kid really hates getting messed with. Doctor's appointments, getting his back rubbed or being touched too much are all unpleasant to him. He wants to be free to do his own thing. Unfortunately we are becoming more and more suspicious that he has gotten his mother's stubborn personality. At least he got his father's good looks.

Birthday Boy!

Isaac had his second birthday last weekend and it was a lot of fun (even though he had a stomach bug and was vomiting and having other issues that were not so fun). He managed to rally really well for his birthday party and eat cake (one of the few solid foods he ate the whole day). His favorite words that day were "presents" and "treats".

He was not sure about the candles, and required some assistance blowing those out. He did not seem to have any trouble figuring out how to eat the cake, though.

Presents!

Moving in

So, we have been absent from the blog for a while. I think that it is safe to say that things have been a little hectic. Isaac got sick the day we moved in and since then we have been playing musical sicknesses and sharing bugs with each other. We are really happy in the new place and pretty grateful to be here. Isaac is loving the space and runs all around. He now has his own staircase. One thing that I LOVE is the kitchen here. Now Isaac can finally be in the kitchen and participate, but not get in danger. Hurrah! Here he is helping on a recent cooking venture.

Moving

So, somehow we had a total change of heart and decided to look at buying a home. After only three times out with a realtor, we came across a little home in Arlington that we fell in love with. After competing with someone else who had an offer on it and haggling a bit, we signed the purchase and sale on Friday. We are set to move mid February and are pretty excited about it. Here are just a couple of shots. I am pretty excited to have a back yard.

First Haircut

So, Isaac's side curls have been losing their bounce. I was not sure if it was because he is wearing a winter hat or because they are ridiculously long. We decided to give them a trim to see if that would help. He seems to grow hair pretty fast on the side of his head, which is pretty cute. So, we gave those curls a little trim. We pretty much left the rest of his hair alone. So he still has pretty awesome curls up top.

Christmas

We had a great Christmas celebration in Ithaca. Isaac had a lot of fun opening his presents and playing with his new toys. Christmas Eve he got started and got some fun items. He really loved opening presents and discovering new toys. Once opened, all he wanted to do was play with his new toy. It would take a little nudging to get him to open another gift.

Isaac really enjoyed his train set. It was set up by the tree, but he managed to totally demolish it within minutes by crawling all over it. I think that I am understanding why train tables are a good thing.

This book was a big hit. Aaron, Harmony, Jack and Lucas got it for him. They saw how much he loved their copy when we visited them. Isaac is now expanding on the animals that he knows and recognizes.

We had a nice time skyping with family on Christmas. Isaac could not part with his toys for a minute.

We really enjoyed hanging out with Elise, Dave and Oakley. Isaac was pretty intrigued with "Oakey".

Aleks took Isaac to the Science Center the day after Christmas and he had a blast. Here he is at the water table. His sweater got totally drenched.
