Five o'clock shadow
I am not sure what Isaac did in the minute when I was not looking, but he managed to get a premature five o'clock shadow.

Happy Holidays!
Happy Holidays!
We had a great Christmas break in Utah and Idaho. It has been a slow adjustment back to real life (and eastern time). Thankfully one piece of this is that Isaac slept in the first few days back. That was really, really nice. Unfortunately he is figuring out east coast time again.
We started off our trip by heading down to Monroe to spend some time with Grandpa and Grandma White on the ranch. It was really great. They had just had a big snowstorm, so it was beautiful. Aleks took some great shots, but it takes too long to upload them here, so I have only included a couple.
We also headed down to Zion's and enjoyed some fantastic scenery. Isaac got to try out his Christmas present a little early-a hiking pack. He thankfully seemed to really enjoy it so there is hope for our hiking future.
After a great time in Monroe, we headed back north to my parents and managed to take advantage of affordable babysitting to see the lights at temple square. It was nice, even though it was cold. Unfortunately all of downtown is being ripped up so there was no where to go for hot chocolate to warm up.
The next day we hopped in the car and headed farther north to Idaho to spend Christmas with my sister and her family. The drive there was treacherous with snow. We saw several cars off the side of the road.
Once there, we had a great Christmas. Isaac loved to explore the Christmas tree and the gifts there. It snowed a lot and felt really homey. The day after Christmas, Jill and I went to a gym class that totally destroyed me. I was stiff for almost a week. It was great!
Here are some photos from Christmas day:
Isaac with cousin Peter exploring on Christmas morning.
Sophie reading a story to him that she gave him.
Grandma with all her grandkids.
The very clever puppet show that the girls put on for us. We even had snack bags and tickets.
Our version of the nativity. The donkey did a really great job.
Peter and Isaac were old enough to actually look at each other and sort of interact. I think that they will be trouble in a few years, given the chance.
At my parents, Isaac got to use to the same high chair I used as a kid. Amazing that it is still around and in such great shape. Isaac is a pretty wiggly eater, so he kept wiggling himself into all sorts of awkward positions in this. Thankfully his high chair at home does not allow him too move much.
Isaac was having a blast playing on the bed our last night there.

Lab Rat
Isaac was in a research study recently to understand how infants distinguish human faces. He was not such a huge fan of the cap he had to wear, especially since it was lunch time. Unfortunately the cheerios were not powerful enough to make him totally happy. But he still did exceptionally well.

Rocket Man
Catch up time
I am a bit behind on the blog. Perhaps in part because I have been juggling too much work with everything else.
It has been a very eventful month in Isaac's life. Some of the exciting things going on are:
Discovering a love of cheerios.
A continued love of food. Somehow, though, at his nine month appointment he managed to drop down the percentiles on his weight. He sure looks chubby to us.
Isaac got his first two teeth this month, as well. It conveniently coincided with getting a cold. He was not a very happy camper for a few days, but now he has some cute teeth to show for it.
Isaac has also learned to crawl!! He is also pulling up on things and taking a few timid steps. It is really fun to watch him cruise around and explore. He loves our recycling bin more than anything else (he is playing over there right now and found a lid!). He also loves pulling up on the bags of flour and sugar that I have not put away, yet.
He had a fun Thanksgiving in Ithaca with his grandparents and Aunt Elise and Uncle Dave. He met their dogs there (Lucy and Cleo) and enjoyed getting licked on the head by them. Unfortunately we never caught one of those moments on camera. He also liked skyping with Uncle Mike and Aunt Jessica and their girls.
His Grandma gave him a fun tiger toy that he loves!
This week he also transitioned into the big baby room at day care. His "girlfriend" works in that room so he gets to see more of her. He had so much fun his first day that he hardly slept and fell asleep on the walk home with Aleks.
With his new mobility, changing Isaac has become even more fun. Here he is after bath time in the really cute towel that his Aunt Elizabeth got him.
Isaac has also developed a love for being on Aleks' shoulders. He particularly loves to pull his hair from up there.

A little creepy (almost) crawly
Here's the Halloween post...Isaac was a spider. His costume was obviously homemade, but it worked and he certainly did not know the difference. Mostly he liked to play with the legs. They were detachable so h did not have to wear them all day.
